Trying to introduce Dash and Duke the dachshunds to their new doggy door didn't quite go as planned, as the hilarious duo didn't seem to realize it was one at a time.

After installing the small door to allow the dogs to come and go freely, Leanne Aarts thought it may take some getting used to, but she didn't expect the dachshunds to turn it into a competition. As Aarts, 62, stood outside with some treats, she watched as Dash, 13, and younger brother Duke, 3, battled it out to try and get through the door first.

Aarts told Newsweek: "We got a new doggy door recently, so I went outside to try and get them used to it. I had some treats with me on the other side. They will often fight like that is something is of interest to them. I couldn't stop laughing at them, they really are such funny dogs."

Just like human siblings, the brothers love to compete against each other over just about anything. While Dash, the long-haired dachshund, may be the older of the two, Aarts, from Sydney, Australia, said that it's usually Duke who wins as "he is far more agile."

Despite their small size, usually weighing less than 30 pounds, dachshunds have very big personalities. The American Kennel Club (AKC) highlights just how endearing they are to most dog lovers due to their sassy spirit and infamous tiny legs. However, while they tend to be brave and independent, dachshunds can take it too far at times, as the AKC says they are also incredibly stubborn.

If they set their sights on something, there is very little which is going to change their mind—even if it means fighting over a doggy door.

Dash and Duke's sibling rivalry may come as no surprise to their owner anymore, but she couldn't resist sharing their hilarious antics on TikTok (@dash_n_duke). Since posting the clip of them struggling to get through the door on December 14, it has delighted many people as it's already been viewed more than 11,400 times and received over 500 likes.

Aarts has loved sharing her two dogs with the world and delighting so many with their constantly silliness, especially as they haven't always had the easiest of experiences. Aarts said: "Dash is a lung cancer survivor as he was rescued from an abusive situation at the age of 4, while Duke is also a rehome. They mean so much, our dogs are family to us."

As the views and likes continue to roll in, Aarts has been amazed by the response to the video of Dash and Duke's "door wars" online. The duo's competitiveness has entertained plenty of people online, leaving many people amazed that sibling rivalry is the same whether you have two legs or four.

One person commented: "No compromise with this breed."

Another TikToker responded: "Mine are like this!"

While another person joked that it was a "traffic jam" at the door.
